Why this home took 6 years to design and build
THE STORY
Every home tells a unique story, and 84 Burke Drive is a special one, the retail entrepreneur owners took 6 years to complete this residence. Hard to see why when their vision was to create a home with timeless appeal that could accommodate intergenerational living and maximize the wide river aspect from every room.
As their young family grew, the owners would upgrade into subsequent homes, which they would undertake large extensions and renovations. But this time, they wanted to create a home with a legacy, and building 84 Burke Drive was a distinct opportunity. Through their travel and renovation experiences, they developed a keen eye for detail, an exquisite taste, and knowledge in design, which were instrumental in optimizing the functionality and aesthetic of each element of their home.
BLOCK LOCATION
Sourcing the perfect location that could accommodate the footprint of the home and majestic in the appeal was a significant challenge. This process took 3 years but for the owners, Attadale felt like home. A family-oriented and a scenic suburb located along the southern side of the Swan River with a welcoming community.
Only 9 km away from the Perth CBD, Attadale is gifted with an abundance of parklands fronting the river, easy access to local schools like Santa Maria and Attadale public schools, community centers, and panoramic views.
Surrounded by flourishing trees, home to the vast parklands, Attadale is characteristic of Western Australia’s peaceful lifestyle. Nestled within some of Perth’s most desired suburbs, the cinematic views across the Swan River and north-facing orientation is the pinnacle of an Australian’s curated lifestyle.
DESIGN & ARCHITECT
Interviewing multiple architects across the country, the owners chose to work with Peter Hobbs to bring their distinct vision to life. Passionate about space analysis, new building technology, and crafting timeless and sustainable spaces, Peter Hobbs combined modern building principles whilst remaining truthful to classic lines. Now the current president of the Australian Institute of Architects – WA Chapter, Peter Hobbs, and his team were successful in combining elegant residential living with functional and commercial sensibilities.
Commanding in presence and stature, the home offers a different perspective depending on the angle you are looking at it from, this was designed to highlight the volume of the home, whilst engaging with the river views from every vantage.
